Over 2.5 (-200), Under 2.5 (+162)
Tottenham is hosting Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a derby match of round 25 in the English Premier League.
Despite not losing any of their last 4 games, Tottenham is still struggling on both ends, especially in the attacking end. In the last weekend FA Cup games, Tottenham was playing against Southampton and the match ended in a 1-1 draw, which means that there will be another game played, this time in London. Tottenham is in 6th place in the EPL standings with 34 points, 38 scored goals, and 32 conceded goals in 24 games. In their last EPL game against Norwich City who is one of the weakest teams in the EPL, Tottenham had 50% of ball possession, 7 corner kicks, 3 shots on goal, and 80% of the correct passes. As I said, Tottenham is really struggling on the offensive end and they are not creating a lot of chances, and the ones they do create, Tottenham is struggling with finishing those chances. In this match, Tottenham was able to score 2 goals and has won this game 2-1. Harry Kane has scored 11 goals for Tottenham so far, but the problem for coach Mourinho is that Kane is injured and the season for him is possibly over. Dele Alli added 7 goals, while Son added 6 goals and 7 assists. Alongside Kane, Davies and Sissoko are also injured and will not be in the lineup. Tottenham has signed Steven Bergwijn a few days ago, a solid offensive midfielder who should have an impact on Tottenham’s offensive game, but Tottenham also sold Christian Eriksen to Inter, a player who hasn’t been at his best this season, but a player that can create a lot of chances for any striker. Tottenham must improve their game before the Champions League starts because Tottenham will face Leipzig who is playing unbelievably good soccer and will be a huge threat to Tottenham.
Manchester City is finally playing good, consistent soccer, but I’m afraid way too late because they are huge 19 points behind Liverpool in the EPL standings. City is the best offensive team in the EPL with 65 scored goals, but they are conceding an average of just over a goal per game, and that is simply not enough this season because Liverpool is too good. In the EFL Cup match against Manchester United earlier this week, City has lost 0-1, but they will still advance to the next round because they won the first leg 1-3. In their last EPL match against Sheffield United away from home, Manchester City had 68% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 13 corner kicks, and 87% of the correct passes. It was a game where City was constantly attacking and pressuring Sheffield, but they were not able to score a goal, until the 73rd minute when Aguero finally managed to defeat Sheffield’s defense. Manchester City has won this match 0-1. Sergio Aguero has scored 16 goals for Manchester City, and is also one of the top goal scorers in the EPL, while Sterling added 11 goals. Kevin De Bruyne, who is probably the best midfielder in the world at the moment added 16 assists. Sane is the only injured player for Manchester City, which is good news for coach Guardiola because Laporte, Mendy, and Fernandinho are recovered, and they are all important defenders. Just in time before the Champions League is back. There is no way that Manchester City will be able to defend the EPL title from last season, but in the Champions League, they will face Real Madrid, a team they can beat because City is playing great soccer and has enough quality in their roster.
Tottenham is a huge underdog in this matchup against Manchester City, and rightfully so because they are not playing well this season. Tottenham has had some success against Manchester City in the past, but I’m not sure they can get a win here. This will be the game where the possession will be on Manchester City’s side and Tottenham will be under pressure for the whole 90 minutes. I will side with Manchester City.
