Over 2.5 (-150), Under 2.5 (+120)
Liverpool is hosting Manchester United at Anfield in a derby match of round 23 of the English Premier League.
Liverpool is playing fantastic soccer and is on a 7-game winning streak. As much as Liverpool is playing great in the attacking part, they are even more impressive on the defensive end. Liverpool hasn’t conceded a goal on their last 6 games. In their last EPL match against Tottenham away from home last weekend, Liverpool was dominant with 67% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and 87% of the correct passes. It was a good game for Liverpool, and they won 0-1, and they could have scored at least 2 more goals if they were a bit more focused. Liverpool is at the top of the EPL standings with 61 points, 50 scored goals, and only 14 conceded goals, and still undefeated. Mane is Liverpool’s leading goal scorer with 11 goals, Salah added 10 goals, while Firmino who is the bridge that connects Liverpool’s midfield and attack, scored 7 goals and added 4 assists. Injuries are a potential problem for Liverpool and coach Klopp ahead of this match because Clyne, Matip, Fabinho, Lovren, Keita, and Milner are all on the injury list and will not be in the lineup for this match. Liverpool looks to be unstoppable, no matter who they play against. With their high pressure, high ball possession, and tireless running throughout the entire game, there is not a team in England that can stop Liverpool at this moment. Liverpool has been struggling with injuries for most of the season and it didn’t affect them so far, and I hope it won’t. Liverpool is huge 14 points ahead of Manchester City in the second place and I don’t think they will gamble away this advantage. I see Liverpool finally winning the EPL title they desire so much.
Manchester United has been playing well as of late and they have won their last 2 games, one in the EPL, and one in the FA Cup. Manchester United is in 5th place in the EPL standings with 34 points, 5 points behind Chelsea in 4th place, last place that leads to Champions League next season. Fortunately for United, this isn’t the only way to get qualified for the Champions League. The winner of the Europa League is granted a place in the Champions League and Manchester United is one of the favorites to win that competition this season. In their last EPL game against Norwich City at home, United was fantastic with 60% of ball possession, 4 corner kicks, 6 shots on goal, and 86% of the correct passes. Despite playing against one of the weakest teams in the EPL, Manchester was great, and they deservedly won this match 4-0. Rashford has scored 14 times for Manchester so far this season, while Martial scored 8 goals. Rojo, McTominay, and Pogba who will most likely leave United now, or at the end of the season are all injured. I believe that United’s management will leave coach Solskjaer at the helm of this team until the end of the season and have a long talk with him in the summer after the season is done to see his accomplishments and plans for the future. I know that Solskajer is the young coach who has a lot to learn, but I think there were too many mistakes and wrong decisions since he was signed. I believe that the only way he will stay the head coach after this season is if Manchester United wins the Europa League and gets qualified for Champions League. Even though United is one of the favorites, the Europa League is extremely competitive this season and it will tough to go all the way for a team as inconsistent as United is this season.
Liverpool’s home record this season is 11-0-0 and just that is enough to put fear into their opponents. Manchester has been playing much better soccer at home, but I think it’s about time that Liverpool concedes a goal, and United is certainly capable of scoring one.
