Over 2.5 (-163), Under 2.5 (+130)
Tottenham is hosting the leader of the EPL, Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a derby match of round 22 of the English Premier League.
Tottenham is just one of the team in the EPL that is lacking consistency and they haven’t won any of their last 3 games. Tottenham has conceded at least one goal in 12 of their last 13 games and their defense is just not improving. In their last EPL match against Southampton, Tottenham was a huge favorite and they had 60% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 9 corner kicks, and 74% of accurate passes. I was watching this game, and though it may seem that Tottenham was a much better team, they weren’t. Tottenham was sloppy in the midfield, insecure on the defensive end, and incredibly inefficient with a lot of wrong passes in the attacking end. Tottenham has lost this game 1-0, and that is not even the worse news, Harry Kane has gotten injured and is still unknown if he will play in this game. Lloris and Davies are also injured and will definitely not play in this game. Harry Kane has been the best player for Tottenham this season and has scored 11 goals. Dele Alli has added 6 goals. Good news for Tottenham and Mourinho is that Son is finally ready to play after being suspended for 3 games because of a red card. Tottenham is in 6th place in the EPL standings with 30 points, 36 scored goals, and 30 conceded goals. In the Champions League, Tottenham will play against Leipzig who is playing in great form, and unless Tottenham improves their defense, I don’t see them advancing to quarterfinals.
Liverpool is a force to reckon with. Liverpool is in the first place in the EPL and them halfway through the season, Liverpool is still undefeated. With 49 scored goals, only 14 conceded goals, 19 wins, and 1 draw, Liverpool is probably the best team in Europe right now. In their last EPL match against Sheffield United at home, Liverpool was great with massive 74% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, and high 90% of the correct passes. We know that Sheffield is the nicest surprise of this season and that they can beat any team they play against, but in this match against Liverpool, Sheffield was invisible. Liverpool has won this game 2-0 with goals by two of their best players, Salah and Mane. Injuries could potentially be the problem for Liverpool and coach Klopp because important defensive players like Clyne, Matip, Lovren, and Fabinho are all on the injury list. Mane has scored 11 goals and added 6 assists, while Salah scored 10 goals. Despite the lack of depth on the defensive end, and really tough schedule in December, Liverpool is still playing great and I just pushing through every obstacle put in front of them. Liverpool has already won two trophies this season, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup, but the title Liverpool wants the most are the EPL title, and they are close than ever in fulfilling that goal. Liverpool is the best team in England and in Europe, and they haven’t conceded a goal in their last 5 games. I do believe that Liverpool will finally win the EPL title, but can they stay undefeated, I’m not so sure.
Tottenham has had success against Liverpool a while playing at home in the past, while Liverpool has scored at least 1 goal in their last 4 away games against Tottenham. I’m giving the advantage to Liverpool because they are playing in a better form, but I think Tottenham will score a goal, especially if Kane will play. All things considered; I will rather pick something on goals here.
