Chelsea is welcoming Burnley to Stamford Bridge in round 22 of the English Premier League.

Chelsea was struggling with consistency through December, but despite that Chelsea is still in the top four. With 36 points, 36 scored goals, and 29 conceded goals, Chelsea is in 4th place in the EPL. In the attacking part of the game, Chelsea is one of the best in the EPL and they are playing beautiful soccer, but on the defensive end, Chelsea is not doing well and that is something coach Lampard must fix before the Champions League starts in February. Chelsea is on a 3-game streak without a loss and they scored at least one goal in all three of those games. In their latest EPL match against Brighton away from home, Chelsea had 53% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and 81% of the correct passes. Chelsea was ahead since the 10th minute of the game, but as I said, they have been struggling with consistency on the defensive end and that is what cost Chelsea a win here. This game ended in a 1-1 draw. Tammy Abraham has scored 12 goals for Chelsea this season and he is one of the best strikers in the EPL right now, Pulisic and Mount added 5 goals each. Loftus-Cheek and Van Ginkel are both injured and will not be in the lineup. Chelsea is playing against Bayern in the knockout stage of the Champions League and I think this will be a great matchup, but I don’t think Chelsea will advance to the quarterfinals simply because Bayern is more experienced and consistent. Chelsea is a young team filled with talent and I expect great things from this team next season.

Burnley is not doing well as of late and is in 15th place in the EPL standings with 24 points, 24 scored goals, and 34 conceded goals. Burnley has won only 2 of their last 8 games and is on a 3-game losing streak in the EPL. Burnley snapped their losing streak with a win in the FA Cup. In their last EPL match against Aston Villa at home, Burnley was a much better team with 61% of ball possession, 8 corner kicks, 80% of the correct passes, but only 1 shot on goal. Burnley was losing this game 0-2 at the half time, and despite the fantastic second half, Burnley was able to score only 1 goal and they lost this match 1-2. Chris Wood is the leading goal scorer with 8 goals, while Barnes added 6 goals. Ashley Westwood added 5 assists for Burnley this season. There are no notable injuries in Burnley which is certainly the good news for coach Sean Dyche. Burnley is safe outside the relegation zone for now, but the difference between them and Bournemouth in 18th place is only 4 points. Burnley is a solid team, but if they want to stay in the EPL next season, coach Dyche must change his approach and find a way to get more consistency on the defensive end. For each win, Burnley loses the next 2 games.

Chelsea has actually won more points away from home than at home, and Chelsea hasn’t won any of their last 2 home games against Burnley and has won only 2 of 6 home games overall against Burnley. Burnley hasn’t been good in their away games this season and they are not playing good soccer overall, and for that reason, I will side with Chelsea here.
