Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps face off in an All-Canadian MLS showdown at BMO Field. These two squads faced off just a few days ago with Toronto FC coming away with a 3-0 victory.
Toronto FC did make it into the knockout stage of the MLS is back tournament before they were eliminated, but this is still a team that has a lot of confidence after what they were able to do in their last game against Vancouver.
In the last game it really looked like Toronto FC was playing against a lower level competition team in their last game when they faced off with Vancouver. Toronto had 76 percent of the possession and completed 851 passes with 90 percent of the pass accuracy. In that game the star of the show was Pablo Piatti who had a goal in the 27th and 55th minute. Nick DeLeon also scored a goal in the 83rd minute just for good measure. In the last game, Toronto FC allowed Vancouver to only have one shot on goal. In this game, Toronto FC needs to try and control the possession early and get out to a fast start. If they can do that, this is a game they should have no issue with.
On the other side of this matchup is the Vancouver Whitecaps who surprised many with their play inside the bubble, especially with how many injuries they were dealing with. They actually made it all the way to the round of 16 where they were knocked out by Sporting KC in the shootout. In the last game though it seemed like they took a big step back after having so much success inside the bubble. The defense really looked them down and they couldn’t keep possession long enough to have success.
Toronto FC looked good in the first game and they should have no issue coming away with the victory in this game. Look for Toronto FC to run up the score and win this game on at -1.5. For more value look for the Toronto FC team total over 2.5 goals.
