RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain meet in a UEFA Champions’ League semi-final matchup from the Estadio da Luz on Tuesday afternoon.
RB Leipzig comes into the semi-finals fresh off of a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in their quarter-final fixture. In the win over Atletico, the first half was squeaky clean as we saw no scoring and no bookings on either side. In the second half though, Leipzig jumped in front 1-0 thanks to Dani Olmo’s header in the 51st minute but Atletico would tie the game at one from the penalty spot just 20 minutes later. Extra time was looming for this one, but Tyler Adams, who came on as a substitute in the 72nd would fire home a shot that took a wicked deflection but it still counted as a go-ahead goal for Leipzig, giving the Red Bulls a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.
PSG on the other hand, narrowly snuck by Atalanta in their quarter-final matchup by a final score of 2-1. Atalanta took the lead in the 27th minute of that game, but the Italians would also take two yellow cards into the second half. The second 45 was rough out of the gate with four yellows in a span of seven minutes, and PSG looked like they were heading home, but Marquinhos provided a lifeline for PSG in the 90th minute and Maxim Choupo-Moting fired home a shock winner for PSG just three minutes later as the French side stunned the high-octane Atalanta, sneaking through to the semi-finals at the full time whistle.
I have no problem with PSG being favored here, but to be honest, the line being this low tells me that RB Leipzig have a legitimate shot here. I mean you look at the other semi-final and Bayern are -450 favorites and Lyon who is fully capable of pulling an upset like they did against Manchester City are +1000! Leipzig may not have Timo Werner who departed for Chelsea early, but Leipzig are still a solid force at the back and have the ability to negate the dynamic attack of PSG. I think this is a game to just watch rather than bet, but if forced to pick, RB Leipzig to qualify at almost two times your money is some really good value here as it could just take one goal to shock PSG, who looked dead in the water before rallying to scrape by Atalanta.
