Juventus takes on AS Roma in Serie A soccer action from the Allianz Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Juventus enters this final match of the season as the Serie A champions, sitting on a record of 26-5-6 with 83 points after a 2-0 loss to Cagliari in their last match. In the loss to Cagliari, Juventus fell behind in the 8th minute and Cagliari would double that lead in the second minute of first-half stoppage time. Juventus would forge forward in the second half, with 68% possession including a 7-0 edge in terms of shots on goal, but in the end, Juventus would leave empty-handed in terms of a win but they already had their hands full with the Serie A trophy. Cristiano Ronaldo leads Juventus in scoring with 31 goals while Paulo Dybala has 11 goals with 6 assists. Rodrigo Bentancur also has a team-high 7 assists for Juve this season.
AS Roma on the other hand, sits in 5th place on 67 points with a record of 20-7-10 after picking up a 3-2 win over Torino in their last match. In the win over Torino, Roma fell behind in the 14th minute but Edin Dzeko would respond for Roma just two minutes later and Chris Smalling would give Roma the lead in the 23rd. Amadou Diawara put Roma up 3-1 in the 61st from the penalty spot, but the two-goal lead would last all of four minute before Torino pulled a goal back. Torino would chase for a tying goal over the next 25+ minutes, but Roma would hold strong and send Cagliari back empty-handed at full time. Dzeko leads Roma in scoring with 16 goals along with 7 assists while Lorenzo Pellegrini has a team-high 9 assists on the year. Pau Lopez leads Roma in goal, conceding 1.34 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 32 league appearances this season.
This is an awesome game to finish the year and it feels strange to see Juventus with such steep plus money at home by their standards. However, I think that plus money is warranted as both teams really have nothing to play for and it appears that Juventus has simply mailed it in now that they have the title in their clutches. AS Roma has won three straight on the trot, and while they haven’t won at Juventus since 2010, I think there’s enough motivation for Roma to snap that skid so I’ll side with Roma on the ML here.
