Torino plays host to AS Roma in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Olimpico di Torino on Wednesday afternoon.
Torino comes into this match in 16th place on 39 points with a record of 11 wins, 6 draws and 19 losses following back-to-back draws with a 1-1 tie with Spal in their last match. In the draw with Spal, the first half saw no scoring with five yellow cards doled out between the two sides, but Simone Verdi would give Torino the lead in the 57th minute. Torino would almost hold on for a win but Spal would find a tying goal in the 80th minute and despite Torino’s best efforts, they wouldn’t find the late go-ahead goal, settling for a point at full time. Andrea Belotti leads Torino in scoring with 16 goals while Verdi has a team-high 5 assists. Salvatore Sirigu leads Torino in goal, conceding 1.72 goals per 90 minutes with 7 clean sheets in 36 league appearances this season.
AS Roma on the other hand, sit in 5th place on 64 points with a record of 19 wins, 7 draws and 10 losses following a 2-1 win over Fiorentina in their last match. In the win over Fiorentina, Jordan Veretout gave Roma the lead from the penalty spot right before halftime. Fiorentina tied the game at one in the 54th minute but Veretout would complete his brace and restore Roma’s lead from the penalty spot again in the 87th minute. Edin Dzeko leads Roma in scoring with 15 goals as well as 7 assists while Henrikh Mkhitaryan has 9 goals with 4 assists and Aleksandar Kolarov has 7 goals. Lorenzo Pellegrini also has a team-high 9 assists. Pau Lopez is Roma’s #1 goalkeeper, conceding 1.32 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 31 league appearances this season.
I’d like to give Torino a shot here, but Torino couldn’t even beat Spal, and everyone was beating on Spal left and right this season. AS Roma could lock up a Europa League spot with a win here and I just think they’re the better team in this spot so I'll take Roma to win with a -1 handicap.
Chris’s Pick AS Roma -1 handicap +110
