Sampdoria and AC Milan meet in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Wednesday afternoon.
Sampdoria comes into the game in 15th place on 41 points with a record of 12 wins, 5 draws and 19 losses following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Juventus in their last match. In the loss to Juventus, Sampdoria were dealt a pair of yellow cards in first-half stoppage time, the second of which came right before Juventus’ opening goal. Juve would double their lead in the 67th and despite Sampdoria’s best efforts to get into the match, Juventus would secure the clean sheet and keep La Samp off of the board at full time. Fabio Quagliarella and Manolo Gabbiadini each have a team-high 11 goals this season while Jakub Jankto has a team-high 4 assists on the year. Emil Audero is Sampdoria’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.61 goals per 90 minutes with 9 clean sheets in 36 league appearances this season.
AC Milan sit in 6th place on 60 points with a record of 17 wins, 9 draws and 10 losses following a 1-1 draw with Atalanta in their last match. In the draw with Atalanta, Hakan Calhanoglu gave Milan the lead in the 14th, and they’d dodge a bullet in the 26th when Atalanta missed from the penalty spot. AC Milan couldn’t get a second break though as Atalanta tied the game at one in the 34th. AC Milan would have the only shot on goal in the second half, but neither side would break the deadlock as the points were shared at full time. Ante Rebic leads AC Milan in scoring with 11 goals while Calhanoglu has 8 goals and a team-high 8 assists. Zlatan Ibrahimovic also has 7 goals for AC Milan this season. Gianluigi Donnarumma leads AC Milan in goal, conceding 1.16 goals per 90 minutes with 11 clean sheets in 34 league appearances this season.
Sampdoria doesn’t have a whole lot to play for, as they’re pretty much locked in for safety in the league next season. AC Milan on the other hand, could lock up champions league with a win combined with a Napoli loss on Tuesday. I just think AC Milan knows what’s at stake here, and giving their solid run of form since the restart, I’ll back them to pick up the win here and since all but one of Milan’s wins since the restart have seen three goals or more, I’ll side with Milan to win and package it with the over 2.5 goals to get a more favorable price.
