Lazio plays host to Brescia in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday afternoon.
Lazio comes into this game in 4th place on 75 points with a record of 23 wins, 6 draws and 7 losses following a 5-1 win over Verona in their last match. In the win over Verona, Lazio fell behind in the 38th minute but Ciro Immobile would get Lazio on the board in the 6th minute of first-half stoppage time from the penalty spot. In the second half, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic gave Lazio the lead in the 56th and Joaquin Correa pushed the lead to 3-1 just seven minutes later. Immobile pushed the lead to 4-1 with his second goal in the 84th before completing his hat trick in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time. Immobile leads Lazio in scoring as well as all of Serie A with 34 goals as well as 8 assists while Luis Alberto has a team-high 15 assists this season.
Brescia on the other hand, is in 19th place on 24 points with a record of 6 wins, 6 draws and 24 losses after a 2-1 loss to Parma last time out. In the loss to Parma, the first half saw no scoring but three yellow cards all went Brescia’s way. Parma would take the lead just before the hour mark but Daniele Dessena tied the game for Brescia just three minutes later. Parma would retake the lead in the 81st and Brescia would be left scrambling for an equalizing goal that never came. Alfredo Donnarumma leads Brescia in scoring with 7 goals while Ernesto Torregrossa has 6 goals and Sandro Tonali has a team-high 7 assists this season. Jesse Joronen is Brescia’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.86 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 29 league appearances this season.
Brescia’s already on the way down, so part of me hopes they’d feel like putting on a show in their last game in Italy’s top flight for at least a year. However, while Lazio doesn’t have a whole lot to play for, I’m sure the club would like to finish the season on a winning streak and potentially finish as high as 2nd for the first time since winning the league in 1999-2000. With that said, eight of Lazio’s ten games since the restart and seven of Brescia’s last ten games as well as the reverse fixture between these two has seen both teams score, so I’ll package Lazio to win with both teams to score as my main bet for this match.
Chris’s Pick Lazio to win & Both Teams to Score +135
