Burnley faces Brighton on Sunday, July 26th at Turf Moor for an English Premier League match.
Burnley is coming into the final matchday of the Premier League season with their heads held high, as it was a successful year for Sean Dyche's club. Burnley is currently in 9th place in the Premier League standings, tied with Sheffield United in points with 54. Burnley have played well after the break, despite battling various nagging injuries for quite some time. Nick Pope, the Burnley goaltender, has been incredible all season long. Pope is a big reason as to how Burnley was able to finish inside the top half of the Premier League this year. If Burnley can add a few goal scorers next season, look out, this team could make a run similar to that of Wolverhampton.
Brighton is ready to move on to the next season, as even though Brighton have guaranteed safety in the Premier League, it was not the sharpest year for Hove Albion. Brighton is currently in 16th place in the Premier League standings with only 38 points to their name, as it was a disappointing campaign for sure. Brighton is coming off a 0-0 draw to Newcastle United in their last match, as the offensive struggles continued for Brighton. Brighton has only scored 37 goals this entire season, and the team has a -23 goal differential on top of that. A new year may be what can snap Brighton out of it and move up the Premier League standings, and the offseason will be very important for this team's future.
The last time Burnley and Brighton met was on September 14th of 2019, in which the two teams took a 1-1 draw at Brighton.
As stated before, Brighton has struggled offensively as of late, only scoring three goals in their last five matches combined. Burnley is missing a few pieces on the striking side, and the team has also struggled to put goals on the scoreboard as of late. Burnley's defense has been incredible this year, and I expect the team to hold Brighton to one goal or less in this one. With that being said, I will take the under 2.5 goals, as it is the safest bet for me.
