Liverpool faces Chelsea on Wednesday, July 22nd at Anfield for an English Premier League match.
Liverpool will have almost a week of rest before it has to take on Chelsea at home, which is a big advantage heading into the match. Liverpool is coming off a 2-1 loss at the hands of Arsenal on the road in their last match. Although Sadio Mane was able to give the champions of Liverpool the early 1-0 lead in the 20th minute, Arsenal was prepared for a counter. Alexandre Lacazette scored in the 32nd minute to tie the game, while Reiss Nelson was able to score just before halftime in the 44th minute to give Arsenal the lead at the break. Liverpool was unable to find an answer in the second half, as the Arsenal defense played well throughout the final 45. Liverpool fired 24 total shots with eight of them on target, but the lone goal from Mane was all that came out of it. Liverpool will look to bounce back against a formidable opponent in Chelsea.
Chelsea took down the hottest team in the Premier League in Manchester United in their last match. The 3-1 win for Chelsea was not in Premier League action but in the semifinals of the English FA Cup. Chelsea will now play Arsenal in the championship game of the FA Cup on August 1st. Chelsea will only have two days of rest before it has to play Liverpool on the road, which is never a good thing, even without fans in the stands. Chelsea rested some key guys in the semifinal match against Manchester United, however, and those guys should be ready to go against Liverpool on Wednesday.
The last time Liverpool and Chelsea met was on March 3rd of 2020 in which Chelsea was victorious by a score of 2-0 in the English FA Cup.
I have to take Liverpool in this match, as although Chelsea on the money-line with +260 is intriguing, Liverpool should be more prepared to play 90 minutes in this one. Liverpool will be home, well-rested, and even though they have struggled a bit recently, they are still the stronger team.
