Sassuolo plays host to AC Milan in Serie A soccer action from the Mapei Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Sassuolo come into this match in 8th place off of back-to-back draws following a 1-1 tie with Cagliari last time out. The draw put Sassuolo on 48 points with a record of 13 wins, 9 draws and 12 losses. In the draw with Cagliari, Francesco Caputo gave Sassuolo the lead in the 12th minute and the lead would hold through the halftime break and into the second half where Cagliari would go down to ten men just three minutes into the second 45. Sassuolo would concede the equalizer in the 63rd minute and despite owning 77% possession in the match, and 78% in the second half, the draw would hold up at the full time whistle as the teams were forced to share the points. Francesco Caputo leads Sassuolo in scoring with 18 goals along with a team-high 7 assists while Domenico Berardi has 13 goals and 7 assists of his own. Jeremie Boga also has 11 goals for Sassuolo this season. Andrea Consigli leads Sassuolo in goal, conceding 1.7 goals per 90 minutes with 4 clean sheets in 27 league appearances this season.
AC Milan on the other hand comes into this game in 7th place on 56 points after picking up a 5-1 win over Bologna in their last match to improve their record to 16 wins, 8 draws and 10 losses. In the win over Bologna, Alexis Saelemaekers opened the scoring for Milan just 10 minutes into the game before Hakan Calhanoglu doubled the lead for Milan in the 24th. Bologna would pull a goal back in the 44th minute but Ismael Bennacer would restore the two-goal lead in the 49th and Ante Rebic would push the lead to 4-1 in the 57th minute. Despite Bologna’s best efforts, Milan would slam the door shut the rest of the way, but not before Davide Calabria buried a 5th for Milan in the second minute of second-half stoppage time. Rebic leads AC Milan in scoring with 11 goals while Calhanoglu has 7 goals and a team-high 6 assists this season. Gianluigi Donnarumma leads AC Milan in goal, conceding 1.17 goals per 90 minutes with 11 clean sheets in 32 league appearances this season.
This is a tough one to call as both teams could use three points here, AC Milan needs them to keep pace for 6th place and Sassuolo is trying to make up ground from behind. With that said, I’m going to focus on the total and side with the over. Both teams have found their scoring boots for the most part with both also going unbeaten since the Serie A restart. Sassuolo has scored two or more goals in seven of nine games since the restart while AC Milan has at least two goals In all eight games since the resumption of play so I’ll side with the over 3 goals as my pick for this match.
