Bournemouth faces Southampton on Sunday, July 19th at Vitality Stadium for an English Premier League match.
Bournemouth is coming off a 2-1 loss at Manchester City in their last game. Bournemouth played well in the second half, scoring the only goal from either team in that half. Bournemouth's goal came a little too late, as it was in the 88th minute from David Brooks. Bournemouth is still trying to avoid relegation, and it is not looking good. With two games left, Bournemouth still trails Watford and West Ham United by three points each at the time of this being written. Bournemouth needs to find at least four points in the last two games, or the team's future will not include the Premier League.
Southampton has drawn in all three of their last three matches. The latest draw came against Brighton, in a match that Southampton most likely expected a win in. Neal Maupay scored early Brighton in the 17th minute. That 1-0 score would hold throughout the first half, as Brighton took a one-goal lead into the break. Danny Ings and Southampton were able to find the equalizer in the 66th minute to make it 1-1. Southampton could not find another, even though the team had 21 total shots and six shots on target. Along with that, Southampton also had a 68% possession advantage in the match, so one point has to be a bit of a letdown. Southampton is currently in 12th place in the Premier League standings, tied with Everton in points.
The last time Bournemouth and Southampton met was on September 20th of 2019, in which Bournemouth was victorious by the final score of 3-1.
I like Bournemouth to win this match, as Bournemouth have played surprisingly well as of late. A win against Leicester City and a close contest against Manchester City leads me to believe that Bournemouth is really fighting to stay alive in the Premier League. At home, I will take a chance with Bournemouth on the money-line in this one. Bournemouth's offense has been really strong as of late, and I think they can score at least two goals in this one.
