Parma plays host to Sampdoria in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Saturday morning.
Parma comes into this match sitting in 12th place on 40 points with a record of 11 wins, 7 draws and 15 losses following a 3-1 loss to AC Milan last time out. In the loss to Milan, Parma took the lead in the 44th minute off of the boot of Jasmin Kurtic. Milan would tie the game at one in the 55th and would take a 2-1 lead just four minutes later. Parma would have their chances in the second half with shots on target, but in the end, Milan would add a third goal in the 77th minute to put the game out of reach. Andreas Cornelius leads Parma in scoring with 11 goals while Dejan Kulusevski has 7 goals and a team-high 7 assists this season.
Sampdoria on the other hand, come into this one in 14th place on 38 points with a record of 11 wins, 5 draws and 17 losses following a 3-0 win over Cagliari in the last match. In the win over Cagliari, Manolo Gabbiadini gave Sampdoria the lead just eight minutes into the game and the goal would stand up until Federico Bonazzoli added a second goal for Sampdoria in the 40th minute. Bonazzoli completed his brace in the 53rd minute to push Samp’s lead to 3-0, and that’s all they’d need down the stretch as Cagliari went down without a fight, failing to get on the scoreboard at full time. Gabbiadini’s goal ties him for the team lead with 10 goals with Fabio Quagliarella, while Jakub Janklo and Karol Linetty each have 4 assists for Sampdoria this season. Emil Audero is Sampdoria’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.58 goals per 90 minutes with 9 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
This is a hard one to call as we’ve got two teams with next to nothing to play for. With that said, Sampdoria’s not completely out of the woods from the relegation zone just yet, but a win would be a huge step towards clinching safety for next year. I think it all boils down to me not being able to turn down this much value and plus money with a Sampdoria team that’s won 4 of their last 5 games against a Parma squad that’s dropped 17 of a possible 18 points across their last six games.
