Napoli takes on Udinese in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday afternoon.
Napoli comes into this match sitting in 6th place on 53 points, tied with AC Milan after back-to-back draws including a 1-1 draw with Bologna that put Napoli on 15 wins, 8 draws and 10 losses this season. In the tie with Bologna, Konstantinos Manolas opened the scoring for Napoli in the 7th minute, and the lead would hold through the halftime break and for the first part of the second half before Bologna thought they had tied the game but VAR would overturn the goal after an offside player was discovered in the leadup to the goal. Bologna would get their equalizer in the 80th and despite their best efforts the rest of the way, Napoli wouldn’t pull in front again, leaving the game to finish level at full time. Arkadiusz Milik leads Napoli in scoring with 10 goals while Dries Mertens has 9 goals with 4 assists and Lorenzo Insigne has 6 goals and 6 assists. Jose Callejon leads Napoli in assists with 7 assists this season.
Udinese on the other hand, come into this match on 36 points with a record of 9 wins, 9 draws and 15 losses following a scoreless draw with Lazio in their last match. In the draw with Lazio, each side would get two bookings in the first half, but no scoring came of any chances. Udinese would put the pressure on in the second half, despite having just 46% possession, Udinese would log 5 shots on goal but none of them ended up finding the back of the net. In the end, neither side would have the breakthrough goal and the spoils were shared between the two sides. Kevin Lasagna leads Udinese in scoring with 10 goals while Rodrigo De Paul and Stefano Okaka each have 6 goals. Seko Fofana leads Udinese in assists with 7 helpers this season. Juan Agustin is Udinese’s top goalscorer, conceding 1.27 goals per 90 minutes with 12 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game as the price for Napoli is pretty juiced but they’re also fighting for a Europa League spot with AC Milan breathing down their necks. With that said, I do think that Napoli comes out on the front foot here, so I’ll back Napoli with the -0.5 first half handicap as I could see the double blue in front at half time, but I also have a stronger play on the full time result as a premium pick that you can find here.
Chris’s Pick Napoli -0.5 first half (+110)
