Tottenham Hotspur faces Leicester City on Sunday, July 19th at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for an English Premier League match.
Tottenham defeated Newcastle United by the final score of 3-1. Harry Kane produced an incredible performance for Spurs, as he scored two goals in the match. Both of these goals were scored in the second half, and both of them came after Newcastle United was able to find the equalizer to make it 1-1. Tottenham had fewer shots in the win, only eight total with five on target, while Newcastle United had 22 total shots with six on target. Newcastle United also owned the possession advantage with 53%, so it was not the strongest win for Tottenham, but they will take it nonetheless. Tottenham is now in 7th place in the Premier League standings, one point behind Wolverhampton in 6th.
Leicester City took care of business at home against a tough Sheffield United team on July 16th. Ayoze Perez scored the first goal for Leicester in the first half of play (29'). Leicester City would add another tally in the 79th minute thanks to a goal by Demarai Gray. Leicester City's defense stepped up in a big way, as the club only allowed five total shots, with one on target. Sheffield United has proven to score tons of goals in spots they would not be expected to score in. An example of this was in Sheffield United's 3-0 win over Chelsea, but Leicester City did a great job of controlling that on Thursday.
The last time Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City met was on September 21st of 2019, in which Leicester City won by the final score of 2-1 at home.
These two teams are pretty even in most statistics, as both teams score a bunch of goals, but tend to concede a fair amount as well. I am going to take the over in this match, as we get a prime number at 2.5. I could definitely see a 2-1 win in either direction or perhaps a 2-2 draw as well. Neither team is strong enough for me to take a chance with them against the spread or on the money-line, so the over is the strongest play in my eyes.
