Fiorentina plays host to Torino in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday afternoon.
Fiorentina comes into this one in 13th place on 39 points after picking up a 3-1 win over Lecce last time out to bring their record to 9 wins, 12 draws and 12 losses this season. In the win over Lecce, Federico Chiesa gave Fiorentina the lead after just six minutes of play and Erick Pulgar had a chance to double the lead from the spot five minutes later but he would miss from the penalty spot. Rachid Ghezzal would push the lead to 2-0 for Fiorentina in the 38th minute and Patrick Cutrone made it 3-0 just two minutes after that. Lecce pulled a goal back in the 88th minute, but in the end it wouldn’t be enough as Fiorentina cruised to a win. Chiesa leads Fiorentina with 7 goals and 5 assists this season while Dusan Vlahovic and the aforementioned Pulgar each have 6 goals this season. Bartlomiej Dragowski is Fiorentina’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.26 goals per 90 minutes with 8 clean sheets in 31 league appearances this season.
Torino on the other side, comes into this one in 15th place on 37 points with a record of 11 wins, 4 draws and 18 losses following a 3-0 win over Genoa last time out. In the win over Genoa, Bremer pushed Torino in front 1-0 in the 32nd minute and the goal would stand up until Sasa Lukic doubled the lead in the 76th minute as a sub and Andrea Belotti pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 90th minute of play. All of this coming while Torino had just 34% possession in the second half. Belotti leads Torino in scoring with 16 goals this season while Simone Verdi has a team-high 5 assists. Salvatore Sirigu is Torino’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.76 goals per 90 minutes with 7 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
I’m having a hard time splitting hairs between the two sides, as both have had a couple of decent wins lately, but both sides are also a mixed bag and a side is hard to call, or the draw as well. I do know that both teams are shaky defensively, so I’m going to side with both teams to score as I feel it’s just the safest bet for this match rather than playing the side or the total.
