Norwich City faces Burnley on Saturday, July 18th at Carrow Road for an English Premier League match.
Norwich City has already been officially relegated from the Premier League at the end of this season, so the only thing left to play for is pride. Chelsea defeated Norwich City by the final score of 1-0 on July 14th, as Norwich City was able to keep it close at the very least. With only five wins throughout the entire Premier League season, it was just not in the cards for Norwich City to stick around in the Premier League next season. Norwich City has only scored one goal in its last five matches combined, which is obviously a recipe for disaster in the Premier League. Norwich City will not get it any easier when it takes on a Burnley team that prides itself on defense.
Burnley finished one of the most exciting matches in the Premier League this season against Wolverhampton on July 15th. The two teams were scoreless in the first half, as neither team was given any real scoring opportunity. Wolverhampton finally cracked the scoreboard in the 76th minute with a strike from Raul Jimenez. Burnley did not have too many scoring chances after the Wolves goal was scored, as it seemed that Burnley was really shooting for a 0-0 draw. Burnley was given a gorgeous opportunity in added time, as in the 90+4 minute, Chris Wood had an empty net for a header. Unfortunately for him, he botched the header wide in devastating fashion. However, luck was on Chris Wood's side after all, as in the 90+6 minute, Burnley was awarded a penalty shot due to a handball by a Wolves defender. What better person to take the shot than Chris Wood, the man that just missed the previous equalizer chance. This time, Wood was able to score, and Burnley ran away with the 1-1 draw.
The last time Norwich City and Burnley met was on January 25th of 2020, in which Norwich City earned one of its five wins, 2-1.
Although Norwich City defeated Burnley earlier this season, my money is still on Burnley in this match. Norwich City will be home but without fans, it should not matter enough. Burnley does have a ton of injuries, but with Nick Pope in net, I think Burnley can find a 1-0 clean sheet victory.
