Leicester City faces Sheffield United on Thursday, July 16th at King Power Stadium for an English Premier League match.
Leicester City was stunned in its last match against AFC Bournemouth. Leicester City played incredibly well in the first half of play against Bournemouth, as the team had all of the scoring chances, most of the possession, and was in control. Jamie Vardy gave Leicester City a 1-0 lead when he scored in the 23rd minute. When the second half began, everything changed, as a desperate and hungry Bournemouth team awoke and played with a vengeance. Bournemouth would score two goals in two minutes (66', 67') to tie and take the lead. On the second goal, Leicester City's Caglar Soyuncu was sent off with a red card after a dirty play in his own net. That red card would basically end the game, as Bournemouth cashed in on its men advantage by scoring two more goals to complete a 4-1 stomping upset over Leicester City. Since Chelsea lost to Sheffield United, Leicester City remains only one point behind Chelsea for third place in the English Premier League standings.
Sheffield United, as stated before, defeated Chelsea by a final score of 3-0 on July 11th. Even though Chelsea had a whopping 76% possession advantage in the match, everything went Sheffield United's way. Sheffield United's counterattacks were executed perfectly, just as it needed to be if Sheffield United wanted to win. Sheffield United scored three goals on four shots on target, therefore Sheffield United made sure to make the most of its limited opportunities. Chelsea could not find an answer to any of Sheffield United's goals, as the Blues of Chelsea were shutout for the first time since the first leg of the UEFA Champions League against Bayern.
The last time Leicester City and Sheffield United met was on August 24th of 2019, in which Leicester City was victorious on the road by a score of 2-1.
The question of the match is what Leicester City team will show up on Thursday? The inconsistencies for Leicester City have haunted the club since the break ended, but I think we see Leicester City bounce back in this one at King Power Stadium. Leicester City needs a win and three points if it wants to be in the top three of the Premier League table, and I expect Leicester to get the job done. I will take Leicester City on the money-line.
