Real Betis and Alaves duke it out in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio Benito Villamarin on Thursday afternoon.
Real Betis come into this match in 13th place on 41 points with a record of 10 wins, 11 draws and 15 losses following a 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in their last matchup. In the loss to Atletico, Betis would dodge a pair of bullets thanks to VAR, as Atletico had two goals called back because of a hand ball in the 22nd and an offside in the 36th, leaving the score deadlocked at 0-0 at the half. Atletico would also be reduced to ten men in the 57th minute but Betis would go behind 1-0 in the 74th minute and be left looking for an equalizer that would never come. Loren Moron leads Real Betis in scoring with 9 goals while Joaquin has 8 goals and Nabil Fekir has 7. Sergio Canales also has 6 goals and a team-high 6 assists for Real Betis this season. Joel Robles is Real Betis’ #1 goalkeeper, conceding 1.4 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
Alaves on the other hand, come into this match in 17th place on 36 points, tied with Celta Vigo with a record of 8 wins, 9 draws and 18 losses following a scoreless draw with Getafe last time out. In the tie with Getafe, the first half saw three bookings, only one of which went Alaves’ way, and the second half saw little scoring until Getafe had a breakthrough goal in the 88th minute. However VAR would overturn the goal after finding a handball in the buildup to the goal, wiping it off of the board and leaving Alaves with a lifeline and a single point at full time. Lucas Perez leads Alaves in scoring with 11 goals along with a team-high 5 assists while Joselu has 10 goals this season. Fernando Pacheco is Alaves’ top goalkeeper, conceding 1.37 goals per 90 minutes with 6 clean sheets in 27 league appearances this season.
I think Alaves will be looking for a full three points here, but a draw even would go a long way towards helping Alaves secure safety, and it’s hard to back them for a when Alaves has scored just one away goal since the restart. Betis has been better at home but realistically there’s nothing for them to play for here. The last three meetings have all ended in a draw so that’s where I will lean for this match as my main bet and I’ll also put some side action on the correct score of 0-0 for decent plus money.
