Celta Vigo and Levante duke it out in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio de Balaidos on Thursday afternoon.
Celta Vigo comes into this match in 16th place on 36 points tied with Alaves with a record of 7 wins, 15 draws and 14 losses following a 2-1 loss to Osasuna last time out. In the loss to Osasuna, Santi Mina gave Celta the lead in the 10th minute but Osasuna would be quick to tie things up in the 23rd minute. The draw would hold into the half and for the majority of the second half before Osasuna surged ahead in the first minute of second half stoppage time, leaving Vigo behind and empty-handed at full time. Iago Aspas leads Celta Vigo in scoring with 13 goals this season while Denis Suarez has a team-high 5 assists this season. Ruben Blanco is Celta Vigo’s #1 goalkeeper, conceding 1.22 goals per 90 minutes with 10 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
Levante on the other hand, come into this one in 12th position on 43 points with a record of 12 wins, 7 losses and 17 draws following a 2-1 loss to Athletic Bilbao last time out. In the loss to Bilbao, Levante found themselves behind after just four minutes of play and Bilbao would double their advantage in the first minute of first-half stoppage time. Enis Bardhi would pull a goal back for Levante in the 71st minute, but in the end it wasn’t enough as Bilbao held on for the last 20+ minutes to pick up the win and leave Levante empty-handed at full time. Roger Marti leads Levante in scoring with 11 goals while Borja Mayoral has 7 goals and Jose Campana has a team-high 6 assists this season. Altor Fernandez is Levante’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.42 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 36 league appearances this season.
The plus money with Levante would be tempting given their higher position in the table, but Levante have nothing to play for. With that said, Vigo is way too juiced on the ML for my liking, so I’ll back Celta Vigo to win and since the last three meetings have seen a combined 18 goals, I’ll take Vigo to win and package it with the over 2.5 goals to get the wager into plus money.
