Bologna and Napoli square off in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Wednesday afternoon.
Bologna comes into this match in 10th place with 42 points and a record of 11 wins, 9 draws and 12 losses following a 2-2 tie with Parma last time out. In the tie with Parma, Danilo opened the scoring for Bologna in the 3rd minute and Roberto Soriano doubled Bologna’s lead just 13 minutes later. The lead would hold for Bologna into the halftime interval and for the majority of the second half, with Bologna looking like it was smooth sailing to a win. Parma had other ideas, though, scoring twice in second-half stoppage time to eke out a point and leave Bologna shell-shocked. Riccardo Orsolini leads Bologna in scoring and assists with 8 goals and 5 assists while Musa Barrow is right behind with 7 goals and following in 3rd is Rodrigo Palacio with 6 goals this season. Lukasz Skorupski is Bologna’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.42 goals per 90 minutes with two clean sheets in 31 league appearances this season.
Napoli on the other hand, enter this match in 6th place on 52 points with a record of 15 wins, 7 draws and 10 losses following a 2-2 draw with AC Milan in their last match. In the draw with AC Milan, Napoli would fall behind in the 20th minute but Giovanni Di Lorenzo would get Napoli back on level terms in the 34th minute. The tie would hold up until the hour mark where Dries Mertens would give Napoli a 2-1 lead, but AC would be quick to respond in the 73rd minute of play. Despite both sides best efforts late, Napoli would also be forced to settle for a share of the spoils at full time. Arkadiusz Milik leads Napoli in scoring with 10 goals while Dries Mertens has 9 goals and Jose Callejon has a team-high 7 assists. Lorenzo Insigne also has 6 goals with 6 assists for Napoli this season.
I didn’t think I’d have as hard of a time with this one as I find myself having, as Bologna has actually won the last two head-to-head meetings between the two sides. However, Napoli needs this win to strengthen their grip on the last Europa League spot for next year and they’re just the better team side by side in my opinion. I think Bologna does put up a fight though, so I’ll side with Napoli getting the win along with both teams to score to get a favorable price on the wager.
