Alaves plays host to Getafe in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio Mendizorrolza on Tuesday afternoon.
Alaves comes into this match losing six straight games to sit in 17th place on 35 points with a record of 9 wins, 8 draws and 18 losses following a 2-0 loss to Real Madrid last time out. In the loss to Madrid, Alaves fell behind in the 11th minute from the penalty spot and Madrid’s lead held up until they doubled the lead five minutes into the second half. Alaves would try to answer but once again, Alaves just didn’t have an answer to get on the board themselves, making it six times in eight games since the restart that Alaves has ended the game with no goals on the board. Lucas Perez leads Alaves in scoring with 11 goals along with 5 assists while Joselu has 10 goals this season. Fernando Pacheco is Alaves’ top goalkeeper, conceding 1.37 goals per 90 minutes with 6 clean sheets in 27 league appearances this season.
Getafe on the other hand, enter this game on 53 points with a record of 14 wins, 11 draws and 10 losses following a 3-1 loss to Villarreal last time out. In the loss to Villarreal, the first half saw no scoring and no bookings, but Villarreal would take the lead in the 66th minute from the penalty spot. Hugo Duro would tie the game at one for Getafe in the 80th minute, but Villarreal would re-take the lead six minutes later with a second goal from a spot kick. Getafe would try to equalize late, but Villarreal would secure the result with a 3rd goal in the third minute of stoppage time. Jaime Mata leads Getafe in scoring with 11 goals while Angel Rodriguez has 10 goals this season. Marc Cucurella leads Getafe in assists with 5 helpers this season.
This match features two teams in poor form right now, with Alaves having lost six straight games and 7 of 8 since the restart. Getafe hasn’t had much luck either, especially on the road where they’ve picked up two points of a possible 12 in four league road games since the restart. The difference for me is that Getafe is at least picking up points here and there and when Alaves loses, they don’t score. As six of the seven losses since the restart for Alaves have been to nil. I don’t trust Getafe as far as I can throw them, but there’s no backing Alaves here. Give me Getafe on the ML by default.
