Sevilla play host to Mallorca in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday afternoon.
Sevilla come into this match tied with Atletico Madrid on 63 points in 4th place with a record of 17 wins, 12 draws and 6 losses following a 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao last time out. In the win over Bilbao, Sevilla fell behind 28 minutes into the game. The lead for Bilbao held goinginto the half and for a good chunk of the second half as well before Ever Banega tied the game at one for Sevilla in the 69th minute off of a set piece. Munir El Haddadi would give Sevilla the lead five minutes later and that’s all Sevilla would need the rest of the way as they held on for their third straight win. Lucas Ocampos leads Sevilla in scoring with 13 goals while Banega and Jesus Navas each have a team-high 7 assists this season. Tomas Vaclik is Sevilla’s top goalkeeper, conceding 0.92 goals per 90 minutes with 14 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
Mallorca on the other hand, come into this one fresh off of a 2-0 win over Levante in their last match. The win brought Mallorca to 32 points with a record of 9 wins, 5 draws and 21 losses this season in 18th place. In the win over Levante, Mallorca took the lead in the 40th minute with a header from Cucho. Mallorca’s lead held for much of the second half with Levante having 60% possession and 10 goal attempts, but Mallorca would ice the win when Takefusa Kubo banged home a rebound in the 84th minute to give Mallorca the insurance goal they wouldn’t end up needing as they held onto the clean sheet. Ante Budimir leads Mallorca in scoring with 12 goals while Kubo leads Mallorca in assists with 4 assists this season. Manuel Reina is Mallorca’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.56 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 34 league appearances this season.
The plus money with Mallorca is tempting considering that they need points to keep their survival hopes alive. However, Mallorca has been terrible on the road all season, especially since the restart, losing all four games by a combined score of 9-1 with three losses by two goals and three of those games coming with Mallorca being shut out at full time. I’ll side with Sevilla to win with a -1.5 handicap as my main bet and I’ll also put some action on Sevilla to win to nil at slightly better plus money.
