Leganes plays host to Valencia in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio Municipal de Butarque on Saturday afternoon.
Leganes enters this match in 19th place on 29 points with a record of 6 wins, 11 draws and 18 losses following a scoreless draw with Eibar last time out. In the draw with Eibar, the only action of the first half saw Leganes receive a yellow card in the 17th minute. Both sides would take the field in the second half with Eibar owning 64% possession, but neither side would log a shot on goal in the second half, resulting in the game remaining scoreless at full time. Oscar Rodriguez leads Leganes in scoring with 9 goals on the year while Roque Mesa has a team-high 3 assists this season.
Valencia comes into this match on 50 points with a record of 13 wins, 11 draws and 11 losses in 8th place after a 2-1 win over Valladolid in their last match. In the win over Valladolid, Maxi Gomez opened the scoring on the half hour mark for Valencia and the goal held into the half. Valladolid would tie the game at one two minutes after halftime, and we appeared headed for a score draw before Kangin Lee broke the tie in the 89th minute. Valladolid would try to get back into the match, but it was too little too late, it wasn’t enough as Valencia picked up the win. Gomez leads Valencia in scoring with 10 goals while Daniel Parejo has 8 goals and Rodrigo Moreno has a team-high 7 assists this season.
I’ve gone back and forth on this one as it’s not as cut and dry as the positioning in the league table would have you believe. With that said, Valencia have been terrible on the road since before the restart, not having won a league match on the road in 2020 with a mark of six losses and two draws in their last eight road games in the league. On the other hand, Leganes need points wherever they come, but they’re winless in their last five home games. Instead of trying to pick a side, I’m going to back the head-to-head trends. The last three meetings have all ended in draws and all with the same 1-1 scoreline so I’ll take a draw as my main bet for this match as well as the correct score prediction of 1-1 for decent sized plus money.
