Fiorentina hosts Verona in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday afternoon.
Fiorentina comes into this match tied with Udinese on 35 points in 13th place with a record of 8 wins, 11 draws and 12 losses following a scoreless draw with Cagliari last time out. In the draw with Cagliari, Fiorentina received the only booking in the first half and that was all the action the first 45 would see. Both sides would finish with two bookings, and Cagliari had the better number of chances in the second half, but in the end, neither side would be able to break through as the final score held the same way the match started. Dusan Vlahovic, Erick Pulgar and Federico Chiesa each have a team-high 6 goals with Pulgar and Dalbert each having a team-high 4 assists this season. Bartlomiej Dragowski is Fiorentina’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.27 goals per 90 minutes with 8 clean sheets in 30 league appearances this season.
Verona on the other hand, come into this match in 9th, tied with Sassuolo on 43 points entering Saturday’s action with a record of 11 wins, 10 draws and 10 losses following a 2-2 tie with Inter last time out. In the draw with Inter, Darko Lazovic would give Verona the lead just two minutes into the game. The lead would hold through the halftime break, but Inter Milan would tie the game at one in the 49th and go ahead 2-1 just six minutes later. The 2-1 lead would hold up for Inter until Miguel Veloso tied the game at two in the 86th, forcing the two sides to settle for a point a piece at full time. Samuel Di Carmine leads Verona in scoring with 6 goals while Matteo Passina has 5 goals and the aforementioned Lazovic has 6 assists this year. Marco Silvestri is Verona’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.06 goals per 90 minutes with 9 clean sheets in 31 league appearances this season.
I’ll admit I’ve been a bit high on Verona since the restart, but the problem I’m facing now is that the results just haven’t been there and now Verona’s on the road where they haven’t been very good all season long and have allowed five goals in two road games since the Serie A restart. On the other side, Fiorentina’s won just once since the restart and even at home, their form as a team isn’t anything special. I can see the two sides cancelling each other out at full time, so I’ll side with the draw as my main bet for this match.
