Osasuna host Celta Vigo in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio El Sadar on Saturday morning.
Osasuna come into this match in 11th place on 45 points with a record of 11 wins, 12 draws and 12 losses following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Real Betis in their last match. In the loss to Real Betis, Osasuna fell behind after just four minutes and Real Betis would double their lead in the 25th minute. Osasuna would attempt to rally in the second half, including getting both of their shots on goal in the second 45, but no goal came and Betis would seal the result with a goal in the 7th minute of second half stoppage time. Chimy Avila leads Osasuna in scoring with 9 goals this season while Ruben Garcia has 8 goals and Roberto Torres has 6 goals with a team-high 7 assists this season.
Celta Vigo on the other hand, come into this match in 16th place on 26 points with a record of 7 wins, 15 draws and 13 losses, tied with Eibar after a 1-1 tie with Atletico Madrid, their 3rd draw in their last four matches which coincides with their current four-game winless run. In the draw with Atletico Madrid, Celta Vigo fell behind just 52 seconds into the game, and that goal would hold for the duration of the first half. Francisco Beltran tied the game at one just four minutes after the half, and despite the efforts from both sides, neither would find a go-ahead goal over the course of the last 40+ minutes, leaving the spoils to be shared between the two sides. Iago Aspas leads Vigo in scoring with 13 goals while Denis Suarez has a team-high 5 assists. Ruben Blanco is Celta Vigo’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.22 goals per 90 minutes with 10 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
This is a hard game to call, as a win here would be massive for Celta’s hopes of survival while Osasuna is guaranteed safety and are more than likely not moving up to the European spots for next season. With that said, Vigo are tied for the La Liga lead in the draw column and while Osasuna’s had a strong run since the restart, the bulk of that success came away from home. I just have a feeling this game ends square, just like the reverse fixture in January. I’ll take the draw as well as the correct score prediction of 1-1 for sizeable plus money.
