Brighton (LWLDW) and Manchester City (WLWWL) will meet on Saturday, July 11th for an English Premier League match. The match is scheduled for a 3:00 PM EST start time and it will be played at Amex Stadium.
Brighton was defeated by Liverpool at home by the final score of 3-1. Brighton played decently, but Liverpool was far too much for Brighton to handle. Liverpool's Mo Salah scored in the 6th minute to give Liverpool the early 1-0 lead. Jordan Henderson then scored for Liverpool two minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0 and virtually end any chance Brighton had right out of the gates. Brighton would not give up, however, as Leandro Trossard scored in the 45th minute to cut the deficit in half and make it 2-1 at halftime. Mo Salah would find the back of the net for the second time of the game, as in the 76th minute he made it 3-1 Liverpool. Brighton is currently in 15th place in the English Premier League standings, as the club is nine points safe from a relegation spot.
Manchester City played with a fierce sense of vengeance when it took on Newcastle United in its last match. Manchester City came off an ugly 1-0 loss to Southampton, and the club showed Newcastle United that it would not be a repeat offender. Manchester City dismantled Newcastle United by the final score of 5-0. That makes it five times that Manchester City has won by five goals or better, the most in the Premier League. Manchester City will be on the road in this one, but that really does not matter, especially with no fans being in the stands. Manchester City is still playing for position in the EPL standings, even though City basically has second place all locked up, as it is nine points ahead of Chelsea in third.
The last time Brighton and Manchester City met was on August 31st of 2019, in which Manchester City earned a blowout victory at home, 4-0. Manchester City has won all five of the last five meetings between the two clubs.
The history, trends, and talent level all point in the direction of Manchester City in this match. I do not see the former champions to struggle in this one, so I will take City against the spread.
