Aston Villa (LLDLD) and Manchester United (WWWWD) will meet on Thursday, July 9th for an English Premier League match. The match is scheduled for a 3:15 PM EST start time and it will be played at Villa Park.
Aston Villa is fighting for its future in the Premier League, and that future does not look bright. Aston Villa is coming off another loss, this one to Liverpool by the final score of 2-0. Aston Villa has not won a match in Premier League action since January 21st over Watford. Aston Villa looked like it may be able to find a 0-0 draw in the game against Liverpool, but Sadio Mane had different plans in the 71st minute when he found the back of the net. It will not get any easier for Aston Villa, as they have to now take on a Manchester United team that is unbeaten in its last 16 matches.
Manchester United played a style that it is not used to in its last match against Bournemouth. In Manchester United's last fifteen matches, the team only conceded four total goals to the opposition. In this match against Bournemouth, United found itself down 1-0 early. Manchester United did not let that goal affect the final result, as the team fired away for three unanswered goals in the first half to take a 3-1 lead to the break. Manchester United allowed another goal to make it 3-2, but United added two more goals just for good measure. Manchester United is currently in fifth place in the Premier League standings, four points behind Leicester City for 4th. United will look for another feasible three points when it heads to Villa Park.
The last time Aston Villa and Manchester United met was on December 1st of 2019, in which the two teams drew 2-2 in front of the Manchester United supporters.
There is no doubt in my mind that Manchester United should win this game quite comfortably, as although Aston Villa will be fighting hard, the same goes for Manchester United. I will take Manchester United to take a lead into halftime, as I see a goal scored around the 30th minute that should hold.
