West Ham United (DWLLL) and Burnley (DWWLD) will meet on Wednesday, July 8th for an English Premier League match. The match is scheduled for a 1:00 PM EST start time and it will be played at London Stadium.
West Ham United's last game against Newcastle United was a scoring shootout. The final score was 2-2, as both teams offenses were ready to go in this one. Right out of the gates, Michail Antonio scored a goal for West Ham United in the 4th minute to give the Hammers the lead. Miguel Almiron was able to find the equalizer for Newcastle United in the 17th minute, as the score was tied at 1-1 at halftime. West Ham United's Tomas Soucek gave his club the lead again with a goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately for West Ham United, Newcastle United was not going away, as two minutes later Jonjo Shelvey scored the second equalizer of the match. The score would hold and each team earned a point in the draw. West Ham United is currently in 16th place in the English Premier League standings, therefore they still have some work to do in order to avoid relegation.
How about Burnley? This team has various injuries that have taken many of its leading players out of the lineup for weeks, but this team just does not give up. With Nick Pope as the goaltender (who has the second most clean sheets in the League), Burnley has done what it has to do to be successful in the Premier League. Scoring a single goal in all three of its last three matches, Burnley has earned two wins and a draw, which is remarkable. The lack of offense has been counterbalanced by the outstanding defense for Burnley, a team that is currently in 9th in the Premier League.
The last time West Ham United and Burnley met was on November 9th of 2019, as Burnley was victorious in that match 3-0.
West Ham United is the favorite to win this match, as they have +100 odds on the three-way Money Line. I can understand why, as the team is desperate for points and West Ham will be home in this match. With all of that being said, I still cannot trust either squad enough, so I will take the under in this game. Burnley has struggled on offense and excelled on defense, and this game should be no different. I expect a 1-0 or 1-1 score in this one.
