Real Betis and Osasuna square off in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio Benito Villamarin on Wednesday afternoon.
Real Betis come into this match in 14th place on 38 points with a record of 9 wins, 11 draws and 14 losses following a 1-1 tie with Celta Vigo in their last match. In the tie with Celta Vigo, Betis fell behind in the 22nd minute and Vigo’s lead would hold going into the half and through the first 30 minutes of the second half before Zouhair Feddal tied the game at one for Real Betis with 11 minutes of regular time to play. Both sides would have chances down the stretch, but ultimately the points would be shared as the two teams finished level at full time. Loren Moron leads Betis in scoring with 9 goals this season while Joaquin has 8 goals and Nabil Fekir has 7 goals with 4 assists. Sergio Canales has 6 goals with a team-leading 6 assists on the year. Joel Robles leads Real Betis as the team’s #1 goalkeeper, conceding 1.4 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
Osasuna on the other side, come into this one in 11th place on 45 points with a record of 11 wins, 12 draws and 11 losses following a scoreless tie with Getafe in their last match. The first half saw all three bookings come Osasuna’s way, and while the second half had the cards shift the way of Getafe, neither side would benefit, despite Osasuna having both of their shots on target coming in the second half. All in all, the sides would share the points in this match as well as both sides were able to maintain a clean sheet. Chimy Avila leads Osasuna in scoring with 9 goals but continues to miss time with a knee injury. Ruben Garcia has 8 goals for Osasuna while Roberto Torres has 6 goals and a team-high 7 assists.
I think you could make a case for either side here, and a draw would not surprise me, maybe even a scoreless draw like the reverse fixture back in September. However, while Betis has been decent at home, they’ve won just once since the restart which has lasted seven games now, and while Betis is probably safe, there’s been no real sense of urgency there. Osasuna has saved some of their best play of the season for last and while it got me last time against Getafe, I’ll take another shot with Osasuna on the ML here.
