Brighton (WLDWD) and Liverpool (WLWDL) will meet on Wednesday, July 8th for an English Premier League match. The match is scheduled for a 3:15 PM EST start time and it will be played at Amex Stadium.
Brighton is coming off a 1-0 road victory over Norwich City in its last match on July 4th. Brighton will most likely be safe from relegation at the end of this season, but it did not hurt that they were able to scoop up the three points against lowly Norwich. Brighton's Leandro Trossard was the lone goal scorer, as he was able to find the back of the net in the 25th minute. Brighton's defense held up well against various Norwich attacks, as Brighton was able to grab the clean sheet victory. Brighton has now won two, drew two, and lost one in its last five matches overall.
Liverpool defeated Aston Villa on the 5th of July at home. The final score was 2-0, as it took the Champions quite a while to get going on offense in this one. Sadio Mane scored the first and game-winning goal for Liverpool in the 71st minute, while Curtis Jones scored his first Premier League goal in the 89th minute to make it 2-0. Liverpool has to be happy that the team was able to bounce back after such a disappointing loss to the former Champions Manchester City. Liverpool will only have two days of rest before they have to enter the pitch yet again, so do not be surprised if some of the well-known starters end up on the bench, at least at the start of the match.
The last time Brighton and Liverpool met was on November 30th of 2019. That match resulted in a 2-1 victory for Liverpool in front of its home supporters.
I have to think at least a few starters for Liverpool may get the day off in this game, as it would be rather silly to overwork your men with a Championship locked up and European soccer in the near future. I think Brighton will be up for this game, as even though there will be no one in the stands, the team will look to defend its home pitch. I will take Brighton against the spread, grabbing the one goal they give us at -105 odds.
