AS Roma and Parma duke it out in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday afternoon.
AS Roma come into this match sitting in 5th place on 48 points with a record of 14 wins, 6 draws and 10 losses following a third straight loss in the form of a 2-1 loss to Napoli last time out. In the loss to Napoli, the first half saw no scoring and one booking per side, but Napoli would break the tie ten minutes into the second half. Henrik Mkhitaryan would equalize for Roma just five minutes later and the game would remain tied until Napoli broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute, leaving Roma scrambling for another equalizer that wouldn’t come before the final whistle. Edin Dzeko leads Roma in scoring with 14 goals along with 5 assists while Lorenzo Pellegrini leads Roma in assists with 9 assists this season. Pau Lopez leads Roma in goal, conceding 1.35 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 26 league appearances this season.
Parma on the other hand, come into this game in 12th place on 39 points, tied with Cagliari after a 3rd successive loss as well, falling to 11 wins, 6 draws and 13 losses following a 2-1 loss to Fiorentina last time out. In the loss to Fiorentina, a pair of penalties in the 19th and 31st minutes staked Fiorentina an early 2-0 lead and although Juraj Kucka pulled a goal back with a spot kick of his own four minutes after halftime, Parma wouldn’t find an equalizer the rest of the way either despite owning 57% possession in the second half. Andreas Cornelius leads Parma in scoring with 11 goals on the year while Dejan Kulusevski has 7 goals with 7 assists for Parma on the year.
I’ve gone back and forth on this one, as Roma’s had all of the success against Parma at home, but I’m not trying to lay juice with a team that’s lost three in a row. Granted Parma’s also lost three straight but there’s a decent bit of plus money waiting on the other side. Instead of trying to split hairs, I’m going to go with both teams to score and over 2.5 goals. I could easily see this being a 2-1 game whichever way you slice is, and both teams have had trouble keeping the ball out of their net lately.
