Sevilla plays host to Eibar in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Monday afternoon.
Sevilla enters this match in 4th place on 57 points with a record of 15 wins, 12 draws and 6 losses after picking up a 3-0 win over Leganes last time out. In the win over Leganes, Oliver Torres opened the scoring for Sevilla in the 23rd minute before doubling Sevilla’s lead and completing his brace with his second goal just 12 minutes later. Leganes would have their chances to equalize in the second half, but Munir El Haddadi would push the lead to 3-0 just 11 minutes after coming off of the bench in the 82nd minute to lock up the win and the points for Sevilla. Lucas Ocampos leads Sevilla in scoring with 12 goals while Ever Banega has a team-high 6 assists this season. Tomas Vaclik leads Sevilla in goal, conceding 0.95 goals per 90 minutes with 13 clean sheets in 32 league appearances this season.
Eibar on the other hand, come into this match in 17th place on 35 points, tied with Alaves and Celta Vigo with a record of 9 wins, 8 draws and 16 losses following a 2-0 loss to Osasuna in their last match. In the loss to Osasuna, Eibar fell behind just six minutes into the game and despite having 55% possession in the match and four shots on goal in the second half, Eibar wouldn’t be able to cut into Osasuna’s lead before going down 2-0 in the 74th minute. The 2-0 lead would hold over the final 16+ minutes, leaving Eibar empty-handed at the full time whistle. Fabian Orellana leads Eibar in scoring with 8 goals as well as a team-high 7 assists while Charles has 6 goals and Sergi Enrich has 4 assists on the year. Marko Dmitrovic is Eibar’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.5 goals per 90 minutes with 8 clean sheets in 32 league appearances this season.
This is a hard game to call for me as sevilla’s been the better team over the course of the season, but they’ve drawn four of six games since the restart. On the other hand, Eibar just had a four game unbeaten run snapped and haven’t been playing too terribly in their own right. Rather than trying to determine a side here, I’m going to side with the over here, as the last five meetings have seen a combined 22 goals. I’d also take a shot with the over 2.5 goals and both teams to score as that option has come through in each of the last four head-to-head meetings between the two sides.
