Osasuna takes on Getafe in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio El Sadar on Sunday afternoon.
Osasuna come into this match in 11th place on 44 points after picking up a third straight win in the form of a 2-0 win over Eibar last time out to bring their record to 11 wins, 11 draws and 11 losses this season. In the win over Eibar, Ruben Garcia opened the scoring for Osasuna in the 6th minute and the goal held until Garcia doubled Osasuna’s lead in the 74th minute. Eibar had their chances with all four of their shots on goal coming in the second half, but in the end, it just would not come to be as Osasuna held on for the win. Chimy Avila leads Osasuna in scoring with 9 goals while Garcia’s brace gives him 8 goals and Roberto Torres has 6 goals with a team-high 7 assists on the year.
Getafe, over on the other side, come into this game in 6th place on 52 points with a record of 14 wins, 10 draws and 9 losses after a narrow 1-0 loss to Real Madrid in their last match. In the loss to Madrid, Getafe would be held to just 32% possession in the match but would hold a 10-8 edge in goal attempts. Getafe would be outshot 4-3 in regards to shots on goal, and Real Madrid’s lifeline would be a spot kick goal from Sergio Ramos in the 79th minute. Getafe just wouldn’t have an answer over the remaining 11+ minutes, leaving the match empty-handed at full time. Jaime Mata leads Getafe in scoring with 11 goals on the year while Angel Rodriguez has 10 goals and Marc Cucurella has a team-high 5 assists this season. David Soria is Getafe’s top goalkeeper, conceding 0.91 goals per 90 minutes with 13 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
I get why Getafe would be favored here, being higher up in the table. However, while Osasuna doesn’t have the home contingent to cheer them on, it hasn’t stopped Osasuna from rattling off three wins in a row, and look pretty good doing it. Getafe hasn’t been all that sharp since the restart, winning just one of six matches, so I’ll take a stab with Osasuna to get the win on the ML.
