Inter Milan play host to Bologna in Serie A soccer action from the San Siro on Sunday morning.
Inter Milan come into this match in 3rd place on 64 points with a record of 19 wins, 7 draws and 3 losses following back-to-back wins after a 6-0 demolition of Brescia last time out. In the win over Brescia, Ashley Young gave Inter the lead after just five minutes before Alexis Sanchez doubled Inter’s lead from the penalty spot. Danilo D’Ambrosio pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 45th minute and Inter would pour it on after the break. Roberto Gagliardini made it 4-0 in the 52nd and Christian Eriksen and Antonio Candreva made it 5-0 and 6-0 five minutes apart in the 83rd and 88th minutes. The final whistle couldn’t come soon enough for Brescia as Inter picked up a convincing win and three points. Romelu Lukaku leads Inter in scoring with 19 goals while Lautaro Martinez has 12 goals on the year. The aforementioned Candreva has a team-high 7 assists as well for Inter this season. Samir Handanovic is Inter’s top goalkeeper, conceding 0.92 goals per 90 minutes with 8 clean sheets in 26 league appearances this season.
Bologna on the other hand, enter this match in 11th place on 38 points with a record of 10 wins, 8 draws and 11 losses following a 1-1 draw with Cagliari in their last match. In the tie with Cagliari, Musa Barrow gave Bologna the lead late in first-half stoppage time, and the lead lasted 15 minutes but only because of the halftime break. Cagliari would tie the game at one in the 46th minute and despite Bologna having 56% possession in the second half with an 8-3 edge in goal attempts and a 5-3 advantage in shots on target, Bologna wouldn’t get a go-ahead goal. The good news was neither did Cagliari, as the points were shared at full time. Riccardo Orsolini leads Bologna in scoring and assists with 8 goals and 4 assists this season. Lukasz Skorupski leads Bologna as the team’s top goaltender, conceding 1.46 goals per 90 minutes with 2 clean sheets in 28 league appearances this season.
I’ve had to go back and forth on this game a little bit, as Inter hasn’t been overly convincing outside of the win over Brescia, and in all honesty, who hasn’t looked good against Brescia for most of the season. Bologna on the other hand, has played a tough schedule since the restart and hasn’t played all that poorly. I do still think that Inter is the better side here, but a lot of the head-to-head between the two suggests a tight, low-scoring match. I’ll side with Inter to win and since each of the last nine league meetings have seen three goals or less, I’ll take Inter to win with under 3.5 goals to get the wager into plus money.
