Chelsea (LWWWW) and Watford (LLDLW) will meet on Saturday, July 4th for an English Premier League match. The match is scheduled for a 3:00 PM EST start time and it will be played at Stamford Bridge.
What happened to Chelsea on Wednesday? Chelsea produced one of its worst performances in recent history, as it was an ugly and frustrating match to watch for any Chelsea supporter. Chelsea dropped its last game to West Ham United (of all teams), by the final score of 3-2. Willian had a great performance for Chelsea, but that was about it. It started in the first half, where West Ham United scored a goal on a corner kick, but the goal was determined to be offsides via VAR. Chelsea then took the momentum and Christain Pulisc drew a penalty for his club. Willian scored the PK and Chelsea seemed to have a 1-0 lead going into the half. That would change when Antonio Rudiger kicked the ball out of bounds behind his goal for absolutely no reason, allowing West Ham United to attempt another corner. Tomas Soucek, who had his goal taken away from VAR on the first West Ham corner, scored again to make it 1-1 at the half. Michael Antonio would score in the 51st minute to give West Ham a 2-1 lead. Willian tried to save the day by scoring in the 72nd minute to tie the game, but that would prove to be meaningless. In the 89th minute, Chelsea allowed a goal to Andriy Yarmolenko, and West Ham United stunned Chelsea with a 3-2 victory.
Watford has been in very poor form as of late, as the team dropped yet another match, this time to Southampton. Danny Ings would score twice as Southampton would take down Watford by the final score of 3-1. With the West Ham United upset victory, Watford is in an even worse situation regarding its safety in the Premier League. Watford is currently one point ahead of Aston Villa in relegation, so there is no room for error for this Watford club.
A bright side of Chelsea's poor play on Wednesday is the fact that the spread will be a tad juicier for them in this match. Chelsea is not going to let Watford do to them what West Ham United did, especially at Stamford Bridge. Fans or no fans, Chelsea's dignity is at stake in this match, and I see them taking care of business easily. I will take Chelse against the spread at -1, 1.5 (EVEN). I see a two-goal victory for the Blues.
