Celta Vigo takes on Real Betis in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio de Balaidos on Saturday morning.
Celta Vigo enter this match in 17th place with a record of 7 wins, 13 draws and 13 losses on 34 points with a 5-1 beatdown loss to Mallorca in their last outing. In the loss to Mallorca, Vigo fell behind from the penalty spot in the 13th minute before going 2-0 down in the 27th and 3-0 down in the 40th. Vigo would pull a goal back five minutes after the half from the penalty spot thanks to Iago Aspas, but Mallorca would restore the three-goal cushion two minutes after that and would push the lead to 5-1 on the hour mark eight minutes after that. Vigo owned 61% possession in the match and 59% possession in the game, but Celta wouldn’t make an impact on the score board any further as the 5-1 score held. Aspas leads Celta Vigo in scoring with 13 goals on the year while Denis Suarez has a team-high 5 assists on the year. Ruben Blanco leads Celta Vigo in goal, conceding 1.23 goals per 90 minutes with 10 clean sheets in 31 league appearances this season.
Real Betis on the other side, sit in 13th place on 37 points with a record of 9 wins, 10 draws and 14 losses on 37 points with a 2-0 loss to Villarreal last time out. In the defeat against Villarreal, Betis fell behind after just 7 minutes of play and Villarreal would double their lead on the half hour mark. Betis would be dealt a blow just before the half when Nabil Fekir received two yellow cards in quick succession in response to a foul. Betis would be held to just 33% possession and one shot on goal, leaving Betis held off of the score sheet and left empty-handed at full time. Loren Moron leads Real Betis in scoring with 9 goals while Joaquin has 8 goals and Emerson and Sergio Canales each have a team-high 5 assists on the year. Joel Robles is Real Betis’ top goalkeeper, conceding 1.42 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 32 league appearances this season.
I’ve gone back and forth on this one, as you have Vigo who clearly suffered a letdown after drawing with Barcelona, but a beatdown loss to Mallorca did a lot of damage to my confidence in Vigo. On the other hand, Betis has struggled since the restart, winning just once in five games but they’ve put a decent foor forward in those games with their scoring boots.Real Betis has also struggled on the road, winning just once in 16 road matches this season. With that said, I’ll take a shot with Celta Vigo to bounce back with a win here, but nine of the last 11 head-to-head have seen both teams score, and I could see this being a 2-1 or maybe even a 3-1 Vigo win, so I’ll take Celta to win with both teams to score for solid plus money here.
