Manchester City (WLWWL) and Liverpool (WDLWL) will meet on Thursday, July 2nd for an English Premier League match. This match is scheduled for a 3:15 PM EST start time and it will be played at Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City has had a very busy schedule as of late, as this will already be its fifth match played since the COVID-19 break has ended. This will also be its third match in a week, which is tough for any team to do, no matter how professional. Manchester City is coming off a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United in its last match in English FA Cup action. This was the English FA Cup quarterfinals, therefore Manchester City is now in the semifinals of the tournament, as they are set to play Arsenal on July 18th. Overall, Manchester City has been playing great football, winning all but one match since the break. Manchester City has also kept clean sheets in all three of its wins too, which is always a plus.
Liverpool has been off for a while, as the new Champions of the Premier League have not played since June 24th in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace. Liverpool will be honored with a "Guard of Honor" from Manchester City before the game on Thursday, which has received a mix of reactions from the soccer world. Despite Manchester City honoring the champions, they certainly will be doing everything they can to beat Liverpool in this match. Liverpool is not going to let up either, especially in this kind of match. Liverpool will want to try and flex its muscles and beat the team right behind them in the standings.
The last time these two teams played against each other, Liverpool was victorious by the final score of 3-1 at home.
This going to be the most anticipated match of the week, as we have the champions against a team hungry for a big-time home victory (without fans of course). With games like this, betting can be tricky, as these two teams are going to battle it out for 90 minutes. I have to stay away from a side or the total, as I honestly think anything could happen. What I will do is take the BTTS (Both teams to score) in the second half. I think Liverpool and Manchester City will both score at least once in the second half of play, and with +160 odds, I think it holds the most value.
