Lecce host Sampdoria in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Via de Mare on Wednesday afternoon.
Lecce enter this match in 18th place on 25 points with a record of 6 wins, 7 draws and 15 losses after a 4th straight loss in the form of a 4-0 loss to Juventus in their last game. In the defeat against Juventus, Lecce fell behind the eight ball early, going down to ten men in the 32nd minute, but Lecce would hold Juventus to a scoreless draw at the half. The wheels would fall off for Lecce in the second half, as Juventus would take the lead in the 53rd and then Lecce would go down 2-0 from the penalty spot nine minutes later. Juventus would put the game away in the 83rd and 85th minutes with a pair of goals in the two-minute span to secure the win and send Lecce back empty-handed. Marco Mancosu leads Lecce in scoring with 9 goals on the year while Gianluca Lapaduia has 7 goals this season. Gabriel Vasconelos is Lecce’s top goalkeeper, conceding 2.27 goals per 90 minutes with 1 clean sheet in 24 league appearances this season.
Sampdoria on the other hand, come into this one just one spot better in 17th place on 26 points with a record of 7 wins, 5 draws and 16 losses after a 3rd straight defeat in the form of a 2-1 loss to Bologna in their last match. In the defeat against Bologna, the first half saw no scoring and no bookings, but the second half is where the action picked up. Bologna took the lead from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute before doubling their lead in the 75th minute. Sampdoria would get on the board in the 88th to cut into the deficit, but that was as close as Samp would get as Bologna held on for the win. Fabio Quagliarella leads Sampdoria in scoring with 9 goals while Manolo Gabbiadini has 7 goals for Sampdoria. Karol Linetty also has 3 assists for Sampdoria on the year.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game, as Sampdoria’s been terrible lately, but as bad as they’ve been, Lecce’s been worse, being outscored 19-3 in their last four games. I don’t think I can bring myself to back a side between two teams that stink this bad, and I think the goals will be coming out in this one as well. I’m going to side with a draw as I think both would be happy with a point to avoid the losing and I’ll also side with the correct score of 2-2 for sizeable plus odds.
Chris’s Pick Draw +245 / 2-2 Correct Score +1000
