Getafe play host to Real Sociedad in La Liga soccer action from the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Monday afternoon.
Getafe come into this match in 5th place on 49 points with a record of 13 wins, 10 draws and 8 losses after extending their winless run to four games with a third consecutive draw in the form of a 1-1 tie with Valladolid in their last match. In the draw with Valladolid, Jaime Mata gave Getafe the lead in the 41st minute, but the lead wouldn’t make it through the half when Valladolid would tie the game from the penalty spot in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Both sides would have chances down the stretch, but neither side would find the breakthrough goal and the spoils were shared at full time. Angel Rodriguez leads Getafe in scoring with 10 goals on the year while Mata’s goal gave him 9 for the year with each having 3 assists this season. Marc Cucurella has 5 assists while Jason and Damian Suarez have 4 assists this year. David Soria is Getafe’s top goalkeeper, conceding 0.9 goals per 90 minutes with 13 clean sheets in 31 league appearances this season.
Real Sociedad on the other hand, come into this match in 7th place with 47 points and a record of 14 wins, 5 draws and 12 losses after making it three straight losses with a 1-0 loss to Celta Vigo in their last match. In the loss to Vigo, Real Sociedad fell behind 1-0 just before halftime when Celta scored from the penalty spot. Sociedad would hold 62% possession with 8 attempts at goal and 2 shots on target compared to just one shot attempt and no shots on goal for Vigo, but Sociedad wouldn’t find the equalizing goal, taking the loss at full time and leaving another match empty-handed. Mikel Oyarzabal and Willian Jose each have a team-high 9 goals with Oyarzabal having 6 assists while Alexander Isak and Portu each have 7 goals with Portu having a team-high 8 assists.
I’ve gone back and forth on this one, but while both are on four game winless runs, Getafe is the team at least coming out with points in their matches while Sociedad has fallen apart since the restart. I’ll side with Getafe to grab the win here on the ML since they’ve won 5 of the last 6 head-to-head meetings with Sociedad and since each of the last six meetings have seen three goals or less, I’ll place an additional bet on Getafe to win with under 3.5 goals for decent plus money.
