Watford (LDLWL) and Southampton (LWLLW) will meet on Sunday, June 28th for an English Premier League match. The match is scheduled for an 11:30 AM EST start time, and it will be played at Vicarage Road.
Watford and Southampton both played on June 25th, therefore neither team will have more or fewer days' rest entering this match.
Watford took on Burnley on the road in its last match. Burnley was certainly the stronger team in the first half of this match, as it seemed that they were very close to scoring many times in the first 45 minutes. Luckily for Watford, neither team was able to score in the first half of play. In the second half, the tides switched, as Watford was the far superior squad. Watford had many scoring opportunities, as Burnley's goaltender Nick Pope was very busy for a large part of the half. Unfortunately for Watford, not only was its stellar play not rewarded with a goal, but they had also conceded a goal itself. Watford got caught flat-footed in a Burnley counterattack, and Burnley's Jay Rodrguez scored in the 73rd minute to allow Burnley to escape with the win.
Southampton was also not successful in its match on Thursday, as the team lost to Arsenal, 2-0. Southampton was actually playing very solid football for the majority of the match. A hiccup from the Southampton defense/goaltender allowed Edward Nkeitiah to score an empty-netter in the 20th minute for Arsenal. Southampton attempted to find the equalizer, as it did own the possession and total shot advantage. Southampton's efforts ceased when Jack Stephens was sent off with a red card in the 85th minute. Joseph Willcock added an insurance goal for Arsenal and his team won, 2-0.
The last time Watford and Southampton played was on November 30th of 2019. That match resulted in a Southampton victory by the score of 2-1 in front of the Southampton supporters.
In the last three matches these clubs have played against each other, both teams have scored in every single one. I think we see more of the same on Sunday, as I will predict that both teams score at -130 and I will also sprinkle a little bit on a 1-1 finish with +525 odds.
