AC Milan host AS Roma in Serie A soccer action from the San Siro on Sunday morning.
AC Milan come into this match looking to build off of a 4-1 win over Lecce in their first league match since the restart which has them sitting in 8th place on 39 points with a record of 11 wins, 6 draws and 10 losses following a 4-1 win over Lecce in their last match. In the win over Lecce, Samu Castillejo opened the scoring for Milan in the 26th minute and would dodge a bullet in the 36th after Lecce had a goal disallowed after VAR determined a player was in an offside position in the leadup to the goal. Lecce would get the equalizer in the 54th minute from the penalty spot, but Giacomo Bonaventura restored Milan’s lead a minute later in the 55th and Ante Rebic pushed the lead to 3-1 just two minutes later. Rafael Leao added a 4th goal for good measure in the 72nd to put the match away and send Lecce back empty-handed. Rebic leads AC Milan in scoring with 7 goals on the year while Theo Hernandez has 5 goals and Hakan Calhanoglu has a team-high 3 assists on the year. Gianluigi Donnarumma is AC Milan’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.18 goals per 90 minutes with 9 clean sheets in 25 league appearances this season.
AS Roma on the other hand, enter this match in 5th position on 48 points after coming out of the break with a 2-1 win over Sampdoria in their last match to bring their record to 14 wins, 6 draws and 7 losses on the year. In the win over Sampdoria, Roma fell behind after just 11 minutes and were denied an equalizing goal in the 31st minute when VAR determined that there was a handball in the leadup to the tying goal. Edin Dzeko would get Roma on the board and tie the game in the 64th before completing his brace and giving Roma a 2-1 lead in the 85th minute, a lead that Roma wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the way, holding on for the win and the three points. Dzeko leads Roma in scoring with 14 goals while Lorenzo Pellegrini has a team-high 9 assists on the year. Pau Lopez is Roma’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.32 goals per 90 minutes with 5 clean sheets in 25 league appearances this season.
I think you could make a case for either side, as Roma’s been better for much of the season and are on fire in that regard, but Milan looked solid against Lecce and have been competitive against Roma in the past. The problem is that Milan have been inconsistent at home for much of the season and don’t have fans in the stands for that added push. Instead, I’m going to side with the draw here as I think this game just has tie written all over it. I’ll side with the draw as my main bet as well as putting some side action on the correct score of 1-1.
