Borussia Monchengladbach and Hertha Berlin square off in Bundesliga soccer action from Borussia Park on Saturday morning.
Borussia Monchengladbach come into this one in 4th place on 62 points with a record of 19 wins, 5 draws and 9 losses after back-to-back wins following a 3-1 win over Paderborn in their last match. In the victory over Paderborn, Patrick Herrmann gave Monchengladbach the lead after just four minutes and the lead would hold into the second half where Paderborn would tie the game at one just eight minutes after the half. Lars Stindl would score from the penalty spot just two minutes later to restore Gladbach’s lead and would add a 3rd goal in the 73rd. That’s all Gladbach would need as Paderborn were held down the rest of the way, leaving the win and three points to go the Monchengladbach. Marcus Thuram and Alassane Plea each have a team-high 10 goals with Plea adding 10 assists to Thuram’s 8 this season. Yann Sommer is Monchengladbach’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.03 goals per 90 minutes with 7 clean sheets in 33 league appearances this season.
Hertha Berlin on the other hand, enter this match in 10th place on 41 points with a record of 11 wins, 8 draws and 14 losses following a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in their last match. In the victory over Bayer, Matheus Cunha gave Hertha the lead in the 22nd minute and the goal would hold until Dodi Lukebakio added an insurance goal for Hertha nine minutes into the second half. Bayer would have 60% possession in the second half and 61% in the whole match but wouldn’t be able to get on the board as Hertha Berlin held on for the win and the three points in the spoiler role. Lukebakio leads Hertha Berlin with 7 goals and 6 assists this season while Vedad Ibisevic has 6 goals and Matheus Cunha has 5 goals this season. Rune Jarstein is Hertha’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.52 goals per 90 minutes with 9 clean sheets in 29 league appearances this season.
A lot of these final games are hard to call because most have one team with something to play for and another has little to nothing at stake. With that said, a lot of these final games give us the opportunity to bet on lines/props we normally don’t bet on all the time, which is why I’m going to side with the half time draw/full time Monchengladbach win option. Since the restart, all four of Hertha Berlin’s games have been tied at the half, but Hertha’s only managed to win one of the four. Monchengladbach still has a lot at stake here as a win would lock up Champions League for next year, so the HT draw/FT Monchengladbach combo will be my main bet for this match.
