Aston Villa (DLDLL) and Wolverhampton (WWDDW) will meet on Saturday, June 27th for an English Premier League match. This match is scheduled for a 7:30 AM EST start time and it will be played at Villa Park.
This will be Aston Villa's league-leading fourth game since the break has ended, while it will be Wolverhampton's third.
Aston Villa is coming off a draw to Newcastle United by the final score of 1-1 on Wednesday. Aston Villa was trailing in this game, but luckily for them, the team was able to find the equalizer late to at least escape with one point. Neither team was able to score in the first half of play, a half in which was very slow for both clubs. Newcastle's Dwight Gayle was able to find the back of the net in the 68th minute to give his team the 1-0 lead. Aston Villa did not have too many opportunities after the goal, but they were given one great scoring chance in which Ahmed Elmohamady cashed in on to tie the game. The final whistle blew and the teams each earned a point, a point that brings Aston Villa even with AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United in the English Premier League standings. All three of these teams face the very real possibility of relegation.
Wolverhampton continued its hot stretch with a win over AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday. Wolverhampton started the day in sixth place, tied for fifth with Manchester United. Manchester United defeated Sheffield United 3-0, so all Wolverhampton could do on Wednesday was get back to even with Man U in the table. It was a slow start for both Wolves and Bournemouth, as the first half was scoreless from both sides. In the 60th minute, Wolves' Raul Jimenez provided a beautiful header to give his team the lead. That goal would be the only goal necessary, and Wolverhampton earned the three points to bring them back level to Manchester United.
The last time Aston Villa and Wolverhampton met was on November 10th of 2019. Wolverhampton was victorious in that match by the score of 2-1.
I have been big on Wolverhampton for some time now, as I see them finding a way in the top-five in the standings, potentially making it to the Champions League (if Manchester City loses the appeal of its ban). I like Wolverhampton to win in this matchup, so I am going to take them on the Money-Line.
