Eibar host Valencia in La Liga soccer action from the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua on Thursday afternoon.
Eibar come into this match in 17th place on 29 points with a record of 7 wins, 8 draws and 15 losses after a 1-1 tie with Getafe in their last match. In the draw with Getafe, Eibar fell behind on the half hour mark, but Charles would tie the game at one for Eibar in the rare sixth minute of first-half stoppage time. Eibar thought they had pulled out a winner in the 86th minute, but VAR would overturn the goal after it was determined that an Eibar player was offside in the leadup to the goal. All in all, the two sides would settle for a share of the spoils as the score stayed tied at full time. Fabian Orellana leads Eibar in scoring with 8 goals with a team-high 6 assists while Charles has 6 goals for Eibar this year. Marko Dmitrovic is Eibar’s top goaltender, conceding 1.55 goals per 90 minutes with 7 clean sheets in 29 league appearances this season.
Valencia on the other hand, enter the match in 8th place, sitting on 46 points with a record of 12 wins, 10 draws and 8 losses after a 2-0 win over Osasuna in their last match. In the win over Osasuna, Valencia caught a tough break right out of the gate, having a goal overturned via VAR after it was determined that a Valencia player was offside in the buildup to the goal. Valencia would get on the board nine minutes later thanks to a goal from Goncalo Guedes. Rodrigo would double Valencia’s lead in the 35th minute, and despite being outshot 10-3 in the second half, Valencia would ride the two-goal cushion to the victory as Osasuna would be held off of the board at full time. Maxi Gomez leads Valencia in scoring with 9 goals while Daniel Parejo is right behind with 8 goals and Rodrigo comes in with a team-high 7 assists this season.
Despite their respective positioning in the La Liga table, there’s plenty at stake for both sides here. Valencia needs a win to get back in the mix for one of the European spots for next year, while Eibar is trying to create space from the relegation zone. With that said, I just think Valencia is the better team here and with no home field advantage for Eibar, they’ll be hard pressed, even as hosts to draw out a result from this one. I’m going to take Valencia ML as my main bet for the match and to get some added value, I’ll take a shot with Valencia to win with both teams to score as each of Eibar’s last five games have seen both teams get on the board.
