Burnley (LDDWW) and Watford (DLWLD) will meet on Thursday, June 25th for an English Premier League match. The match is scheduled for a 1:00 PM EST start time and will be played at Turf Moor.
Both Burnley and Watford will be playing its second matches since the COVID-19 break has ended.
Burnley was absolutely embarrassed in its first match back from break on Monday. Manchester City had lit Burnley up by the final score of 5-0, and just as the score suggests, this was an ugly one to watch for a Burnley supporter. Manchester City scored its first goal of the match in the 22nd minute thanks to a beautiful strike right outside the box by youngster Phil Foden. City's Riyad Mahrez was able to score in the 43rd minute to extend the lead to two, but that would not be all for the first half scoring. Burnley had committed a penalty that the referees needed to take some time to think about, and Riyad Mahrez cashed in to make it 3-0 at the break. David Silva scored right after the break in the 51st minute to make it 4-0, and the future of Man City, Phil Foden, added his second tally to make it 5-0 through the first 63. Manchester City subbed out and played back on defense to seal the blowout victory. Burnley is really banged up, as its top two scorers are injured and they look like a totally different team on the pitch.
Watford was able to earn a draw against Leicester City in dramatic fashion. Watford has to be very happy that they were able to walk away with the point in that match, as Watford is fighting hard to be safe from relegation. In the match against Leicester, both teams did not have too many scoring opportunities. Both teams had six shots on target combined, so defense was more of the focal point for both squads. In the 90th minute, however, Ben Chilwell broke the hearts of Watford supporters everywhere by scoring and giving Leicester the lead. Watford was not done, however, as Craig Dawson scored a beautiful overhead goal off the Watford corner in added time and the team ran away with the draw.
The last time Burnley and Watford played each other, Burnley was victorious by the final score of 3-0.
This is not the same Burnley team as we have seen in past meetings this season. If it were, I would most likely be on Burnley, but since they are so banged up and looked awful against Manchester City, I have to take Watford. Watford was in solid form against Leicester City, and look for them to be fighting for three points that would be so important in its fight to stay away from relegation. I will take Watford to win this match.
