Levante host Atletico Madrid in La Liga soccer action from the Estadi Olimpic Camilo Cano on Tuesday afternoon.
Levante come into this match in 11th place with a record of 11 wins, 5 draws and 14 losses after a 3-1 win over Espanyol in their last match, bringing their total to 38 points on the year. In the win over Espanyol, Borja Mayoral gave Levante the lead after just 14 minutes but Espanyol would tie the game at one in the 28th minute. The tie would hold up going into the second half, but Enis Bardhi gave Levante the lead in the 67th minute and despite Espanyol’s best efforts to tie the game, they’d concede an owl goal in the 87th, giving Levante a much-needed insurance goal and a key win with the three points that go along with it. Roger Marti leads Levante in scoring with 11 goals while Mayoral has 6 goals and Jose Campana has a team-high 5 assists this season. Altor Fernandez is Levante’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.43 goals per 90 minutes with 4 clean sheets in 30 league appearances this season.
Atletico Madrid come into this match in 3rd place, tied with Sevilla on 52 points with a record of 13 wins, 13 draws and 4 losses after back-to-back wins following a 1-0 win over Real Valladolid last time out. In the win over Valladolid, the first half saw no action with no scoring and no bookings. The second half saw no action for most of it but Victor Vitolo would give Atletico the lead in the 81st minute and Atleti would hold on for the last ten plus minutes of the game to pick up a hard fought win. Alvaro Morata leads Atletico Madrid in scoring with 9 goals while Joao Felix has 6 goals and Angel Correa has 5 goals with a team-high 6 assists. Jan Oblak is Atletico Madrid’s top goalkeeper, conceding 0.67 goals per 90 minutes with 13 clean sheets in 30 league appearances this season.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game as I could genuinely see either side picking up the three points and Levante’s been pretty good at home which is why the plus money is tempting. However, this is one of those games where I could see the lack of fans playing a part in the result as Atletico is just a better team than Levante. I would not be surprised in the slightest with another low scoring result, but Atletico has had Levante’s number in recent meetings, going unbeaten in the last five meetings with four wins and a draw, outscoring Levante 13-3 in that time. I’ll take Atletico to win and to get the wager into plus money, I’ll side with Atletico Madrid and the under 3.5 goals.
