Lecce host AC Milan in Serie A soccer action from the Stadio Via del Mare on Monday afternoon.
Lecce come into this match in 18th place, tied on 25 points with Genoa with a record of 6 wins, 7 draws and 13 losses after a 7-2 loss to Atalanta in their last match before Serie A was forced to pause due to the Coronavirus outbreak. In the loss to Atalanta, Lecce fell behind early as Atalanta took a 2-0 lead with goals in the 17th and 22nd minutes. Riccardo Saponara pulled a goal back in the 29th and Giulio Donati tied the game at two in the 40th minute. The wheels would fall off for Lecce in the second half, as Atalanta went ahead in the 47th and added a 4th in the 54th and made it five in the 62nd. Atalanta added two more goals in the last minutes to make it a whopping 7 goals in the goals against column for Lecce in defeat. Marco Mancosu leads Lecce in scoring with 8 goals while Gianluca Lapaduia has 7 goals and Jacopo Petriccione has a team-high 4 assists for Lecce this season.
AC Milan on the other hand, come into this match in 9th place with a record of 10 wins, 6 draws and 10 losses on 36 points, tied with Parma after a 2-1 loss to Genoa in their last match. In the defeat against Genoa, Milan fell behind in the 7th minute and Genoa would double their lead in the 41st. Zlatan Ibrahimovic would pull a goal back for AC Milan in the 77th, but that was as close as they would get as Genoa held on for the win and a key three points in their fight for survival while AC Milan went back empty-handed. Ante Rebic leads AC Milan in scoring with 6 goals on the year while Gianluigi Donnarumma is AC Milan’s top goalkeeper, conceding 1.19 goals per 90 minutes with 9 clean sheets in 24 league appearances this season.
AC Milan has been extremely disappointing this year compared to what we’ve seen from them in year’s past, but they’re still a decent team with some solid pieces like Ibrahimovic and while Lecce had a nice run before the league was forced to halt, they also lost their last two matches by a combined count of 11-2. Milan also had a game to shake off the rust and gave Juventus a serious fight, and in the end I just think they end up being too much for Lecce here. I can see this being a lower scoring Milan win, so I’ll take AC Milan to win with the under 3.5 goals to get the wager into plus money.
